Application Level Packet Inspection

Application Level Packet Inspection (also known as Deep packet inspection, DPI, Layer 7 inspection) is a form of network packet processing that examines the both header and data parts of a Internet Protocol (IP) packet as it's being passed through certain network device.

Traffic Engineering Server (TES) looks through several layers of the OSI model including 7th Layer (Application Level). This includes headers and data fields of TCP and IP protocol data units (PDUs) and as the result includes actual payload of the messages. Such technique identifies network traffic based on a pattern (signature) database allowing better control than identification based on header information only.

TES is NAT router with Bandwidth Management and QoS features that provides advanced tool set to monitor, analyze and manage bandwidth in IP networks. TES is available as Hardware and Software versions.
